It can be said that consumerism is an addiction that follows the rules of addictive behavior. People enter in this addiction in order to compensate their lack of self-esteem and autonomy.

Consumerism provides an instant of pleasure that ends as soon as no functionality can be found for what has been bought. The next purchase will provide the next instant of pleasure.

Fear of social exclusion and the guilt for not being able to fill the standards of a group are the main external drivers of consumerism.

The social benefit of consumerism is that it expands the economic activity of a society by fostering human work to have the money to consume.

Economic expansion requires a certain level of consumerism that varies according to the values of a culture.

Businesses are an example of adaptive systems and require dealing with their integrity in order to influence them to achieve objectives.

Businesses are an example of adaptive systems and require dealing with their integrity in order to influence them to achieve objectives. A paradigmatic case is to “make” an adaptive system grow, e.g. a business.

It is necessary to have an integrated knowledge to influence the evolution of adaptive systems. Changes in adaptive systems cannot be pulled nor pushed. Evolution needs to be catalyzed in order to achieve possible goals.

Catalyzing implies installing objects in the processes that work as “strange attractors” to produce the results they were created for. To do so it is necessary to develop a conceptual design of the problem in order to integrate all the elements that are part of the system.

To achieve the goal of having reliable knowledge of an adaptive system it is necessary to have both the fundamental knowledge and the technical analytical knowledge.

Fundamental knowledge

The knowledge of the fundamentals of a reality is basic for individuals’ actions. It is stored in the long term memory and allows spontaneous actions in real-time.

The conscious knowledge of the fundamentals of a given reality has the following characteristics.

1) Defines possibilities
It defines the field of what is possible to be achieved.
2) Allows front-view
It makes the perception of the final picture of actions possible.
3) Destructive tests
It requires making the necessary destructive tests of their validity in order to measure the limits of their functionality.
4) Sustains maximal strategies
It allows going beyond the boundaries of the present situation because it works in homologous fields.
5) Backward-thinking: Pert thinking
It is based on seeing the solution and starting from the conceptual output when developing taxonomic action plans.
6) Future oriented
In the short or the long run all living beings will act according to their nature. Understanding the nature, defined by the fundamentals, allows forecasting the future.
7) Systemic & Conceptual thinking
Systemic and Conceptual thinking are necessary to apprehend the fundamentals using conceptual thinking to develop taxonomies using systemic thinking.

Synthesis: Fundamentals are action driven
Fundamentals are necessary to develop activities in real time having the needed speed and acceleration to influence reality.

Technical-analytical knowledge

1) Defines the probabilities
It allows making the analysis of the experiences to define the probabilities of occurrence of facts.
2) Allows rear-view
As it is based on facts and theories it is necessary to analyze the past in order to learn from it.
3) Non-destructive tests
Technical-analytical knowledge works within predefined boundaries. Therefore the knowledge is only valid within these limits. There is no need for destructive tests.
4) Sustains minimum strategies
Minimum strategies require a strict procedure to make things happen without depending on external elements. Technical analytical knowledge allows developing these procedures within the boundaries individuals can manage.
5) Forward-thinking: Gantt thinking
It defines the elements that need to be built and integrated following a step by step approach. It implies dividing reality into “independent” objects to integrate them afterwards.
6) Past & Present Oriented
Analysis requires the existence of elements that are being observed, measured and analyzed. Therefore it is based on the pre-existence of these elements.
7) Analytic & Systemic thinking
Analytic thinking is necessary to divide reality into manageable elements and systemic thinking is necessary to reintegrate them in a functional unit.

Synthesis: Technical-analytical knowledge is control driven
Technical analytical knowledge is necessary to measure and compare the existing facts with the objective that had to be achieved.

Producing growth

A system grows when it appropriates more energy than it has spent to produce it. This implies that it needs to generate an added value to the environment that is higher than the cost to produce it.

Growth problems are always big changes

A big change is necessary when an adaptive system, e.g. a business, wants to grow beyond the natural growth driven by the trends of the environment.

Big changes are energy consuming. Therefore it has to be clear if the energy is available. The use of objects is an energy multiplier. Objects are a mass that provides a source of energy to influence change.

The energy available depends on the technology and the knowledge to make use of the technology. Objects are part of the technology that has to be available.

Most of the failures in growth happen because the energy required is not available. This might happen because of the lack of hardware (including objects), software or peopleware.

Knowledge includes the human factor and defines the possibility to generate additional added value to go beyond the existing boundaries to expand the vital space of the system in order to make growth happen.

Conclusions

Managing both the fundamental and the technical-analytical knowledge is necessary to influence adaptive systems to grow.

The knowledge of fundamentals will give you the front-view to produce the growth and the technical-analytical knowledge will give you the rear-view to control the process.

Computers emulate the ancestral human habits in order to simplify the use of the computer and "insert" it into the basic human needs.

Computers emulate the ancestral human habits in order to simplify the use of the computer and “insert” it into the basic human needs.

If someone remembers “He-Man”, a cartoon of the eighties, he will notice that success always includes some new unknown aspects integrated with solid aspects that are within the myths of a culture.

He-Man used the powers of the future with the sword of the past.

To understand Apple it is necessary to apprehend the extraordinary capacity of the company to integrate the technology of the future with ancestral habits of the past.

When this complementation is adequate the success is guaranteed. Using the Unicist Standard this experience can be emulated, but not copied.

Congratulations again.

When dealing with adaptive / complex systems that have by definition open boundaries, individuals committed to find solutions need to understand the nature of the problem. And in order to understand the nature of a problem its ontology has to be understood.

“When dealing with adaptive / complex systems that have by definition open boundaries, individuals committed to find solutions need to understand the nature of the problem. And in order to understand the nature of a problem its ontology has to be understood.

The research on the UOIN was developed by Peter Belohlavek and started at the beginning of the 80’s. It was a step by step discovery based on the apprehension of the nature of social phenomena entering afterwards in the institutional and individual evolution. Its integration with biology and physics was the final stage that was achieved.

The ontogenetic intelligence is defined on one hand by a purpose and an action principle that puts the purpose into action sustaining its functionality and evolution or involution. On the other hand, the same purpose is sustained by the energy conservation principle that complements the purpose to avoid it being changed by the action principle. You can download the e-book at:

English: http://www.unicist.org/deb_uoin.php
Portuguese: http://www.unicist.org/br/deb_uoin.php
Spanish: http://www.unicist.org/es/deb_uoin.php

The Ontology of Ontology

Living beings naturally transfer their functionality to the environment where they act, depositing functions that have the living being’s same logical structure and that generate the existence of extrinsic concepts.
Extrinsic concepts have the same logical structure but they are not implicit in inanimate beings; they are deposited by the living beings they are functional to. This is the origin of the ontology that has been used for many years in philosophy and now also in the field of systemic sciences, complexity science and to deal with adaptive systems. This is what unicist ontology is about.

Peter Belohlavek found that systemic methodologies did not apply to the research of complex systems where there is a conjunction of objects and/or subsystems. Influencing the future meant understanding the nature of a reality in its essence and not from an analytic-rationalistic approach.

To ”manage” the nature of businesses the understanding of the ontogenetic intelligence of nature is necessary. You are welcome to deal with the nature of reality in order to be able to develop diagnoses, scenarios, forecasts and strategies. In the field of adaptive systems “playing by ear” produces paradoxical results. The intuition has to be confirmed. This is just one case where the saying “hard training, easy combat” is confirmed.”

A new version of this e-book is now available. It has been upgraded in order to include the complete set of fundamentals that sustain unicist conceptual design to build “Business-objects” based on the nature of each business.

The emulation of nature is basic in the unicist object driven approach. That is why the Unicist Object Design Language (UODL) must be managed by all the partners that deal with Diagnoses. It is convenient for those related with the development of in-company clinics on their specialties. The UODL is based on a graphical logical interface to build objects.

The Unicist Business Modeling Language (UBML) is the language that has to be managed to enter the world of business strategy, market-labs and org-labs. It is required in order to have the necessary tool to define the conceptual design of businesses and business-objects respecting their nature.

Unicist ontology based technologies are materialized in objects emulating nature to optimize results. They have been integrated into an expert system that is managed by Diego Belohlavek.

Unicist ontology based technologies are materialized in objects emulating nature to optimize results. They have been integrated into an expert system that is managed by Diego Belohlavek.

Nature is organized by objects. The discoveries of the ontogenetic intelligence of nature, its consequent unicist ontology of evolution, the development of the unicist logic and the discovery of unicist thinking (double dialectical thinking) made at The Unicist Research Institute laid the groundings for the unicist strategic approach to businesses.

This implies the use of business objects to define the processes to be developed. The discoveries made the emulation of nature possible.

OOP (Object Oriented Programming)
is homologous to UODT (Unicist Object Driven Technologies)

Objects as programming entities were introduced in the 1960s in Simula 67, a programming language designed for making simulations, created by Ole-Johan Dahl and Kristen Nygaard of the Norwegian Computing Center in Oslo. It emulated the organization of nature. In the 1980s tremendous resources were put behind the ADA language (US Department of Defense) and PROLOG (the Japanese “Fifth Generation Computer Project”), and many believed that ADA and PROLOG would fight for dominance in the 1990s. Instead object-oriented programming is today becoming the dominant style for implementing complex programs with large numbers of interacting components. There are several object-oriented languages. The three most common ones are, Smalltalk, Java, and C++.
This approach gave birth to the Unified Modeling Language which is a mainly graphical notation system for Object-Oriented analysis and design.

Unicist Object Driven Technologies use two different languages to be transformed into processes.

The Unicist Business Modeling Language (UBML) to define the structure of a business solution and the Unicist Object Design Language (UODL) to design the objects that are used in processes.

The unicist ontological structures that have been discovered in the business world provide the secure cognitive objects to develop solutions.

We hope you take advantage of these technologies.

Consider that when a technology is able to emulate nature it has achieved its maturity.

Unicist ontology based technologies are materialized in objects that are installed within processes to produce optimized results.

Reality is driven by objects

Unicist ontology based technologies are materialized in objects that are installed within processes to produce optimized results.

Nature is organized by objects. It is these objects of nature that establish evolution’s point of reference. The appearance of new species, the disappearance of others, changes, evolution, and mutation of species are nothing but aspects of nature that may be approached today as of the Unicist Ontology of Evolution which is based on the discovery of the Ontogenetic Intelligence of Nature.

For this approach to be economic, possible and certain as far as results go, it is necessary to have the appropriate knowledge. This knowledge may be either diffuse or structured in objects. When it is diffuse it is permanently being scrutinized. When it is structured, it establishes cognitive landmarks that change as new operational knowledge is gained.

Humans use mental “pre-built” structures to approach reality. Object driven thinking is human’s natural approach to reality. Human mind approaches reality using cognitive objects.

A cognitive object is a structure that contains knowledge, an action procedure, the groundings of such object, and the opinion on which it is based.

When the conceptual knowledge of a given reality is reached we can structure cognitive objects that remain throughout the times and evolve slowly. The Unicist Ontology of Evolution lays the necessary conceptual ground to construct stable and safe cognitive objects, which are required to forecast the reality whose knowledge they structure.

These cognitive objects allow the building of systemic, functional and operational objects to be installed within business processes. The cognitive objects also allow the adaptation process of objects to different non compatible environments. Diego Belohlavek managed to integrate the use of cognitive objects in a logical expert system.

The unicist approach is based on the Unicist Standard implying the use of object driven technologies.

A breakthrough discovery in the field of human intelligence, Ethical Intelligence, is now available in a Goodwill activity of The Unicist Research Institute as a free learning program on "Ethical Intelligence in Business" developed by Diana Belohlavek.

A breakthrough discovery in the field of human intelligence, Ethical Intelligence, is now available in a Goodwill activity of The Unicist Research Institute as a free learning program on “Ethical Intelligence in Business” developed by Diana Belohlavek.

This program is available in English and Spanish and will soon be available in German and Portuguese.

“Ethical intelligence establishes the game rules to run businesses. Different activities require different rules. Adapting to an environment requires respecting the rules of the reality one is dealing with.

For example:
- The use of the survivors’ ethical intelligence is functional to run small business and deal with conjunctural threats.
- The use of value earning ethical intelligence is functional to run distribution businesses and to increase profits.
- The use of added value ethical intelligence is functional to run industrial businesses and lead to market expansions.
- The use of the ethics of foundations is functional to run knowledge businesses and health businesses.
- The use of the conceptual ethical intelligence is functional to deal with research and complexity sciences.

There is a paradox in the human approach to ethics in business. Some people consider that “The higher the ethical level, the better the business”.

This is a fallacy. Running a business is like catching a train that is already running. You have to run at the same speed to jump on it. If you are running slower than the train you won’t be able to catch it. If you are running faster than the train, you will not only miss the train but also waste your energy.

If you have a lower ethics than the one that is required by the business you will be downgrading it and losing market share. If you have a higher ethics than what is required, you will lose market share and also money.”

We invite you to participate. You will find the program here:

In English: http://www.unicist.org/oucu_ethical_intelligence.php
In Spanish: http://www.unicist.org/es/oucu_ethical_intelligence.php
